Antique Victorian Mahogany Canterbury or Sewing Box
An antique Victorian mahogany Canterbury or sewing box, dating from the late 19th century. Raised on elegant turned supports with decorative brass collars, the piece stands on shaped feet and features a beautifully proportioned silhouette typical of the Victorian period.
The upper section contains two divided compartments, making it ideal for storing newspapers, magazines, sewing materials, knitting supplies, or craft items. The rich mahogany finish displays attractive grain and warm colour throughout.
Constructed from solid mahogany with brass detailing, the piece is both sturdy and decorative. It remains in good antique condition with age-related marks, light scuffs, and signs of use consistent with its age, all adding to its authenticity.
A versatile and attractive Victorian piece that would work equally well as a magazine rack, sewing box, or decorative storage item in a traditional or eclectic interior.
