Large Victorian Mahogany Bureau with Drawers

A large and impressive Georgian - Victorian mahogany bureau, featuring a beautifully fitted interior and plenty of useful storage. The piece is decorated with fine inlay and a distinctive shell motif, adding to its traditional character and reflecting the high level of craftsmanship associated with period furniture.
 
The large fall-front writing surface opens to reveal a fitted interior with a central cupboard, which retains its small key, flanked by two upright hidden storage compartments and numerous small drawers. 
The writing surface has a later replacement green felt skiver and is slightly bowed, meaning it does not close completely or sit entirely flat when open. 
 
With its four generous drawers, substantial construction and attractive decorative details, this is a very large and impressive piece that could work equally well as a traditional bureau or as a bedroom storage piece with an occasional writing desk. There are no keys for the remaining locks.
 
The bureau stands on shaped bracket feet and retains its original swan-neck brass handles. The four large graduated drawers are fitted with solid oak interiors and run smoothly. The quality of the oak drawer linings, decorative inlay, shell motif and substantial mahogany construction all point to a well-made piece of furniture.

Delivery Details
Delivery will be 1 man, ground floor, kerbside and will be 1-2 weeks (or sooner).
If you are unable to assist the courier and require 2 man delivery then there may be an additional charge.
Deliveries within a Congestion Zone may incur an additional £15.
